Back to School Basics You Can Snag at the Thrift Store

Clothes and Shoes: Growing kids go through clothes and shoes pretty quickly. Save yourself some money by shopping second hand. The thrift store also has a lot of pairs of khaki pants— perfect for schools with dress codes.

Backpacks: I think when it comes to school shopping, backpacks are where you tend to break the bank. They can get super expensive, especially if you want a name brand backpack.

Enter the thrift store. The Thriftys in Highlandtown always have Vera Bradley backpacks. This one has a built in laptop sleeve and only cost 10 dollars

Lighting: College students looking to make your space nice, but don't really have a ton of money, I'm here for you. I found a ton of cute desk and floor lamps at the Goodwill in Towson. If you're not feeling the color, spray paint is an inexpensive option.

Desk: Build a study nook without spending too much money. This desk at the Goodwill in Towson is made of solid wood and has plenty of space for notebooks, pencils, pens and art supplies.

Storage Bins: Pack up your college students for a lot less. There’s no shortage of options at your local second hand store. It’ll cost you a lot less than buying bins at the container store!
