Three Fashion Trends to Add to Your Closet This Fall

Tory Burch Spring 2020

Hilfiger x Zendaya Fall 2019

Pussy Bow
The pussy bow is a child of the 70s when more people wore scarves around their necks. By sowing it right onto the blouse, you could have a scarf that better coordinated with you outfit.

I love a good bow. It really adds a bit of drama to what would others wise just be a regular blouse. I think before this season, rocking this look would make your outfit look vintage at best, or at worst dated.

But as always, even the most hated fashion trends eventually resurface.

Hilfiger x Zendaya Fall 2019
How to wear this trend:  Embrace patterned versions of the top. The
bolder, the better.  I like the see-through version that was in Zendaya’s Tommy Hilfiger collab.

Also keep your tie simple. Despite the name, you don’t want to tie it into a bow; just one loose knot.

Where to get this trend: I feel like this trend will be easy to find vintage stores and thrift shops, because pussy bow blouses have been around for a long time.

The Row Spring 2020 Runway
Definitely go vintage for more unique and unusual prints and patterns.

Trench Coat Remix
The trench a fall classic is getting a fun upgrade. Goodbye boring khaki, hello bold color and fabric choices, and even short sleeves.

Burberry Spring 2020 Runway
Even Burberry --the fashion house that made the trench chic – is having fun with it out on the cat walk.

How to wear this trend: You don’t have to go too extreme to be part of the trend. Try out a black trench or trench with short sleeves

Where to get this trend:  A clothes rental website like Rent the Runway. The original trench is a durable and very functional classic. These new versions are like a fling. It’s fun at first, but in the end, we know we’ll end going back to our dependable first love.  So no need to invest, unless you’re a fashion collector.

Suiting
Whether it’s a matching suit or a suit jacket thrown over a slacks and shirt, the look of tailored, coordinated suiting has returned.

How to wear this trend: Screw dark. Think black, grey, blue --but not jewel tone or royal blue. This season’s suits are very serious and brooding with a sophisticated edge. That’s the mood to keep in mind when searching for your look.

Also splurge for suits in lux fabrics like velvet, suede, silk or even leather.

Go for a pants suit or a very long skirt to go with a jacket. By long I mean below the knees. Think shin length to ball gown.

Also, while the trend reflects both paired suit and pants, and mismatched jacket and slacks, for a dramatic affect go with a full pant suit. Also I think this trend is going to big go-to during the Christmas party season.

Where to get this trend:  You might be able score a nice looking suit at a thrift store. But since this look is trending towards the luxurious side, invest in something from a high end department store like Macy's,  Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack.

Snake

Hilfiger x Zendaya Fall 2019

This trend emerged in the spring and has really taken off!

In the Spring black, tan, white versions were really hot. They still are, but so to are rich jewel tone versions of the print. (Think plum, amber and emerald.)

Hilfiger x Zendaya Fall 2019
How to wear this trend: If you bought any snake print outfits and accessories over the Spring and Summer, don't pack them away for the winter. Instead layer them with your fall sweaters and coats.

Think about adding a few rich toned snake print accessories to your wardrobe so you can switch it up through out the next two months.

Where to get this trend: I have found snake print in the thrift store, but with so many people crazy this trend, I would say head to stores. But don't spend too much.  Many affordable brands at places like Target, H&M, JCPenney and even Amazon are selling affordable snake print items.
